New provider numbers

I have been hearing about facilities needing to obtain new provider numbers that need to go on the MDS beginning 2/1/04 but the billing office thought it did not go into effect until 3/1/04. Does anyone out there have any input into this situation? Apparently from our billing office there is some confusion over this issue . Thanks Cheryl
