What day are you referring to?  This resident’s whole stay will have to be billed for something other than medicare since he/she did not have a 3 day qualifying stay.    Brenda W. On investigation we discovered that one of the nights was under observation, not as inpatient.   We brought the resident in as Medicare, all paper work completed, and the next day is when we discovered the error.   Can we bill Medicaid for the day or since it was our error does the facility have to accept the day as a loss?   Please include documentation.   Thx in advance!
