would ask the hospice nurse for a copy of the certification - this is what I do.

My DON believes that all Hospice residents should be coded in the End stage disease/6 months or less to live in J section. I told her that via the MDS manual it states a doctors certification must be present in the chart in order for this to be coded. and I haven't seen any kind of certification of this kind in our hospice resident's charts. She states its automatically assumed because they can't be admitted unless they are deemed 6 months or less to live.So what does the group think?Jenvo in Missouri
