Did the resident take a few steps from their bed to the w/c to go to therapy? Did therapy take them out of their area into the corridor to walk a few steps. Question why not w/therapy. Explain that you need for them to do both, not exclusively in the therapy department. After I showed the therapy dept what I have to code, how it effects our QI's, the how, when and where's, it seem to shed some light from the MDS view over to theirs. If they only walked w/therapy, why can't you and another nurse or CNA walk them? espically just in their room. Start assisting the resident to walk closer to their door that leads to the corridor, and bang, you have both. Unless specifically ordered by the MD that therapy are the only ones, it is an unnecessary "8".
