No.  This would be a red flag.  Some residents having 9 or more meds is not a problem, but indicated due to a multiplicity of health care problems.  What surveyors look for is polypharmacy and is all of the meds are indicated or if the resident is receiving meds that are not needed.  Your pharmacist should be reviewing the resident’s med regimen on their visits and making recommendations to the md about med changes, d/c’s,etc.
