"wellness" PRIOR to the IV insertion, would she not have ended the prior
benefit period? Then, the 3 night qualifying stay would begin a new
benefit period. I didn't see anything indicating she had not ended a

You count wellness periods from one
covered stay to the next (your count
starts at the end of one benefit
period and goes through to the next
hospitalization). Any skilling
service during that time frames
interrupts the wellness period so your 60
days of wellness would have
ended when you started the IV's in the
facility. If this had not been
done and she had been admitted to
the hospital, then she would have
qualified for a new benefit
period.
