An OMRA is only done when all therapy ENDS and the resident continues to be skilled for other reasons.  The only kind of assessment that could be done when therapy starts is a Significant Change, if appropriate.  If the resident has not had a significant change in status it would not be appropriate to do the assessment just because therapy began.  If you are just doing the 14 day and therapy has not started yet, you will soon be to the 30 day and can adjust the ARD to pick up a therapy RUG for the 30-day.

Subject: OMRA OR NOT PLS HELP..

I have a question to the group. we have a resident under part A. She is on nonweight bearing status. Was on bedrest. But last monday, Ortho. orderd her to maybe up in w/c as tolerated still on non weight bearing status. We did already 5 day assmnt. and she is due for 14th day tomorrow. MD ordered for PT Tx as of today. Physical Therapy is saying that we will proceed to do 14th day assmnt with ARD today and will do OMRA later  so we can have therapy RUG score. Im confused, I thought that OMRA is being done only if therapy is discontinued but remains to be on part A. She was saying that we can also do OMRA to change Rug score from Nursing to therapy if resident is pick up by therapy in the later part. Pls help me with this. Rena if you are there, pls reply.
thanks
