The new manuals- when we printed all sections related to SNF from all the manuals was 3700 pages 2 sided.

It is actually easier to use once you understand it- but it really needs to be done electronically- the paper version is not manageable

The CMS manual system is undergoing revision. CMS is phasing out the paper manuals. As they do this, they are incorporating all the program memoranda etc. The best way to get accurate information is to:

1. Go to the CMS manuals page   http://www.cms.hhs.gov/manuals/ , and find the crosswalk links and manual links.

2. Then go to the internet based manuals. Start in chapter 6, which has all the SNF stuff.

3. Cross-check back with the old SNF manual to make sure you’ve pulled all your information- the link to this is in the paper based manual section.

The process you have started is complicated. If you have detailed questions, email me privately.  GOOD LUCK!!

Subject: PPS Federal Register/Starting Med A program

Is 1998 the final version or has their been any changes to the Federal Register?

. My facility is just beginning to plan for a Med A program and I would like to get as much information as possible.

Also any other advice or suggestions is welcome on the "planning" and "starting" Med A program. If anyone can give me any insight to where I also may access simple info like , basic necessities needed for a Med A program, will be appreciated.
