There are some places actually using this today, and it
still works, sterilized or not. Not certain about the yougurt treatment,

When I worked at the University of Iowa we had
leaches flown in from a lab in New York to use on a man that had a finger
reimplanted and had distal pooling of the blood so they used leaches to bleed
the finger until some collateral circulation could be established..It
worked!

Don't laugh! I heard on the news the other day that they are
bringing back the use of "sterilized maggots" for treatment of necrotic
tissue! ICK!!! Hate to be the treatment nurse that day!! ![]()
Sugar and an oxygen mask
over the wound Also maggots for necrotic tissue.
Did I get the
prize for the oldest treatment?
