Last year I was in a facility that got cited for expired meds. This was due to a bottle of phenergan suppositories that were in the fridge labeled from pharmacy w/ a lapsed expiration date, BUT w/ an expiration date on the actual suppository label that was still within date by 2 months.

Our pharmacy consultant told us that it is no longer necessary to label stock pills for date opened if the expiration date is circled. Last years survey team agreed. THis year's team wants them labeled with the date the bottles were opened. _________________________________________________________________ Create a Job Alert on MSN Careers and enter for a chance to win $1000! http://msn.careerbuilder.com/promo/kaday.htm?siteid=CBMSN_1K&sc_extcmp=JS_JA Sweep_MSNHotm2 /---------------------------------------------------------- The Case Mix Discussion Group is a free service of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators "Committed to the Assessment Professional" Be sure to visit the AANAC website.
