Last year I was in a facility that got cited for expired meds. This was due
to a bottle of phenergan suppositories that were in the fridge labeled from
pharmacy w/ a lapsed expiration date, BUT w/ an expiration date on the
actual suppository label that was still within date by 2 months.

Our DON asked me to get your input and also the regulation if anyone knows.
Our pharmacy consultant told us that it is no longer necessary to label
stock pills for date opened if the expiration date is circled.  Last years
survey team agreed.  THis year's team wants them labeled with the date the
bottles were opened.
