I have a resident that has an eye infection.  Eyes are red,
itchy, and watery.  Md had ordered eye ointment on 02/03/2004.  Eye
continue to be red and irritated-md ordered for an opthalmic consult.
his VSS.  He is receiving O2 at 2l but it is continuous.  We are
checking pulse ox but it has been consisted above 90%.  His wt is
stable.  He was placed on synthroid on 02/11/2004 d/t his TSH level
being 19.56H.  Md did not order f/u labs-I have the nurses checking with
MD to see if he wants any f/u labs.  Would you continue to skill this
resident?
If he remains symptomatic and care plan changes are necessary, you may be able to skill him.  In what way is this infection affecting his ADLs?  Is he receiving anything for pain?  The treatment being given must be something only a licensed nurse could do.  His follow up labs may tell if he is still skillable or not.  Any C&S on the eye infection?
