Someone asked last week if a transfusion given at hospital while patient in on MEDA
benefit bundled back to SNF.I thought it was excluded and asked my billing dept about
it today. They have never received any billls from acutecare for the procedure or
products given.I was asked to find out where this information can be found. Our biller
looked up the HCPCS codes code 36430 says it is our resp.,code 36440 says it is not
ours.Do you all think that acutecare is using code 36440,therefore we are not seeing a
claim. We are located north of Boston and it took along time for the free standing
chemo/radiation places to bill us.Our acutecare facilities only provide these services
to their inpatients. The acutecare hospitals near us,in an attempt to stay in business
went to these regional services. It is cost effective for them but not for the SNFs.
