If there is a period between the 30 day and 60 day, there needs to be another 3 day stay in hospital. Say Mr. X was d/c from skilled service on 2-1-04, went to long term care. He was not getting skilled service, he gets sick on 3-9-04 and goes to the hospital. If he has another 3 day stay and meets skilled service guidelines he can return and begin using whatever days he has left. I hope this makes sense. Michelle

In particular, if she has had more than a 30 day period of wellness but not 60 days of wellness. I have checked the "Medicare Benefit Policy Manual", Chapter 8, starting at 20.2 but cannot find anything referencing another qualifying stay allowing her to use her remaining benefits. Does the 30 day rule not apply here since she had another qualifying stay? > > /---------------------------------------------------------- > The Case Mix Discussion Group is a free service of the > American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators > "Committed to the Assessment Professional" > Be sure to visit the AANAC website.
