The fluids given in IV piggyback solutions ARE to be coded in section K5a under Parenteral/IV if given in the past 7 days. Since K5a is answered, the dietitian must then determine the percentage of calories and daily parenteral fluid received. The change happened in August 2003 when section K5a was changed to read "Do include the IV fluids in IV piggybacks."
