Discharge and readmit on the same day

This past weekend one of our residents was sent to our local hospital and was admitted in the early morning hours for GI bleed.  The resident was put into a bed at the hospital and kept there until late afternoon, about 13 hours later.  The hospital is billing for that day.  Do we have to do a discharge tracker, reentry tracker, readmission orders and start a new Medicare schedule?
