Well, let's see...
I took the advice of a couple of people on the list
and just kept my head up and my mouth closed.
I was available to do my job and keep the facility
going while things were just swirling into chaos. Then, last Friday, the ADON
who had been so insistent on having the "top job" walked out. She and I had both
interviewed for the DON position, along with a nurse who had been one of the
ADONs when I was hired. This other nurse is a really nice person, who is
also extremely thorough, dedicated and mature.
She has to give a month notice at her job, and will
be starting April 21. When the ADON walked out Friday, that left me as the
only full time RN. Good news, though; my best friend came to work there as
staff development coordinator. Another of our former ADONs is coming back April
15. We have 2 LPNs in nursing admin; one does wound care and the other is
doing staffing. I still have my part time assistant. We will
probably be hiring another PT MDS coordinator and another ADON.
And they are paying for me to go to a wound care
symposium in May at Disney World, with my husband and children invited along.
It's gotten so funny, with things changing and
people coming and going. I really don't want to leave, now, cuz I can't
wait to see what happens next. My grandmother is in a nursing home about an hour
and a half away. My mom called me Friday to say, "Guess who the new
administrator at Gran Gran's nursing home is??? Your administrator who just
left!" Heh heh.. small world.
Thank you all again for the kind words, advice,
encouragement and support through this roller coaster ride. I don't think
it's over yet, but I am sure learning to hang on tight and not let the stuff get
to me so much.
