I guess I would have staff actually document her activity for a week.  I would specifically doc. the amount of time sitting in her w/c & the actual time she spends ambulating to the bathroom.  That would demonstrate that she was actually not in bed or recliner for more than 2 hours or show that she is for 22 hours, which would then make her bedfast.  If she's not, you can use the doc. to demonstrate to state why you did not consider her bedfast.

Ok Guys,

This is what I was tagged on.

Let's hash this one out.  Need lots of input on this one.

Resident:  A&O X3.
               Cont. of B&B.
Ambulates to and from the toilet several times throughout the day.  Staff reports it takes aprox 15 for her to ambulate to and from each time.
She occasionally ambulates in the hall.  To the hairdresser 2-3 times a month and when she feels like it.  Staff reports that she will let you know when she wants to walk.
She prefers to stay in her room and in bed a lot of the time.  When up she is usually in the w/c or recliner.
She does not attend activities outside of her room.  Receives lots of mail.
She is no longer on a restorative ambulation program because she walks when she wants and only when she wants.  She only needs assist of 1 when ambulating.
She has areas on her spine, which is curved, that open and heal and open and heal, from not wanting to turn from side to side.

State says she should have been coded as bedfast.  I do not agree.

Heeeeeeellllllllllllllpppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
