I remember discussing this quite some time ago, but now I have a situation that I think may qualify and I need some feedback.
Dislocated hip prosthesis patient who will not be going back to the hospital until next week, for surgical revision. No therapies, no weight bearing, basically bed to chair activity only. After the surgery, activity will be much the same for a couple weeks and then will progress gradually into therapy and activity.
Can I cover her under Medicare A with this delayed treatment theory?
Yes. But get a doctor's order stating that the therapy will be delayed. And the doc needs to put the reason, ect. in his progress notes.
