Show her page 3-112 in the RAI Manual as it gives you the definition of bedfast all or most of the time.  & it specifies "Resident is in bed or in a recliner in own room for 22 hours or more per day.  This definition also includes residents who are primarily bedfast but have bathroom privileges."

Subject: FW: Coding of Bedfast

I have a question on the coding of bedfast in section G.  I have a resident with MS who gets out of bed daily in her recliner chair(lazy boy type chair) in her room.  She never comes out of her room except to get her shower once a week.  I have her coded as bedfast.  We have a survey team here now and two of them are telling me that she is not bedfast.  They said that because she is getting out of bed more than 3 hours 3 days a week than I cannot classify her as bedfast.  Am I coding this incorrectly?
