Our facility uses the AIM's test, but it is pretty specific JUST for involuntary movements, but really neglects the other possible aspects.

For example, with antidepressants of the SSRI type, I see a lot of weight loss, rashes, some unusual aggressiveness and insomnia, depending on which antidepressant is used.  You get a weight gain with antidepressants like Desyrel (sometimes).  The new atypical antipsychotics are much better than the older ones, but you will sometimes see bladder distention, etc.  Every one says that the psych group is supposed to follow up, but I note the need to observe for the more frequent side effects, and then look for it when I assess every quarter.

We do a AIMS q 3 months with the MDS process. If you have psych. services they can do a Discus or an AIMS for you. it depends on your facility approach. it only has to be done q 6 months but in past experience Surveyors are impressed with q 3 months. Its shows good assessing.
