Actually this appears to be incorrect.

see page 1-28 of the RAI manual, it states:

         the 15-month requirement for maintenance of the RAI data does not
restart with each new admission


It then goes on to state:

        In cases ehre the resident returns to the facilty after a long break
in care (e.g., 14 1/2 months), staff may want to revie wthe older record to
familiarize themselves with the resident history and care needs.  However,
the decision on retaining the prior stay reocrd in the current chart is a
matter of facility policy rather than CMS requirements.


Given that, if the resident had an MDS completed at your facility within the
past 15-months it should be carried over to the new record.

No, because there was a discharge.  The admission is a new one.
