to the state of Illinois help desk staff when I had a similar
dilemma

Subject: Medicare A and discharge prior to , over and overI have a medicare A resident who was admitted, then discharged after only a few days. I did a 5day PPS mds for payment, then did a "discharge prior to" for OBRA. She returned and we started over with another 5day, then back she went to the hospital! So my question is, how many 08 - discharge prior to completing initial assessments can I do? We haven't done an admission mds yet. Should I do another 08 and 5day PPS only mds and try again when she returns?Thanks, Nancy
