Sharon,
While IV antibiotics are skilled services, in order to pick a resident back up on Medicare A within the 30 day window, the reason for the Medicare A coverage needs to be for a reason that the resident was treated in the qualifying hospital stay or that was treated during the skilled stay in the SNF.  So, it is hard to determine from your description whether or not your resident can be covered.

I have a question for all of you wonderful people with wisdom.  I have a resident adm 2/13/04 to Med A services with dx CA. She was discharged to private pay LTC on 3/31/04 here at this facility.  She recently had an injury to her leg and had to have a hematoma evacuated due to Lovenox therapy.  The wound is now infected and she needed IV antibiotics via a midline.  Can she be put back onto Med A for these services? It is within the 30 window.  Thank you in advance for your assistance Sharon
