Each time you transmit MDSs , your QIs change because the assessments you transmit replace the ones on the QI report previously.  Surveyors use the QI information when they come to your facility to do the survey.  You won't know which report they have used, though.  They might pull it down a few weeks before they come to your facility.  You might want to pull it down monthly to see if your flags are changing or even more often to be really proactive.
I find that the QI does not really reflect the newly transmitted MDSs until the day AFTER I transmit.  It might not be the same in every state, but I wait until the day after I transmit to pull down the QIs.

Subject: QI vs QM

hello everyone,

Does anyone know how often the numbers are crunched to produce a new statistical report? I have read QM's are calculated 4x yearly only with picture date and QI's are done on demand. that is with every new assessment entered, the data can be changed. I have also seen it written as 6x yearly. At any rate, how often can I pull these reports and expect a new result?

                                                  your help is always appreciated,
