In some of the states, if it involves a lot of assessments, they will "merge" the residents for you.  The areas that MUST be corrected are: SS#,  Birthday, Sex.  If not, it will set up a second person.  There is a report the state sends to you under "Validation Reports" on a monthly basis.  It's "Changes To Resident Identifiers"  Check this monthly.  If someone is on there, you must send a correction.

We have to do them all.  I just ran into the same problem but with different type data entry because of switching to a new software and people inputting info made several mistakes.  It is a pain but once it is corrected, shouldn't happen again.
