As long as the resident did not go home and/or fall below the skilled criteria for tube feedings for any 60 consecutive day time span since exhausted 100 days, there is no break in spell of illness and therefore no Medicare days.

Resident remained on tube feedings the entire time was in the facility on Medicare, then Medicaid, then hospital, back to facility...so no break in spell of illness so no Medicare days? jt -----Original Message----- From: Joyce, Monica [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 10:13 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: Spell of illness-Rena, please respond. Did the resident ever go off of tube feed for 60 days or d/c from all nursing facilities (like to home?) for 60 days? If not, no break in spell of illness and not eligible for new 100 days. Doesn't matter what the hospital stay pertained to if doesn't even have eligible days. -----Original Message----- From: Julie Thomas [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 11:04 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: Spell of illness-Rena, please respond. If a patient is admitted for skilled services for feeding tube and exhausts all Medicare days...goes on Medicaid...next year goes to hospital...comes out with continued feeding tube....can she be skilled? Does the hospitalization have to pertain to the feeding tube?
