If JUCE supports JackMIDI then you can abandon ALSA entirely in favor of JACK. I've cc'd this reply to Lucio, he knows more about what's required for a solution. And if someone needs it, bridge software is available than can connect the ALSA sequencer ports to JackMIDI ports.
