Well, I had my first BMB in 2 years - my oncologist felt comfortable with PCR every 3 months but I insisted that I wanted "the gold standard" - although it was the PCR test that diagnosed my CML - 3 BMB's prior to DX were completely normal cytogenics - no Phil chromosome. And the three after were also all normal. But I still felt it was important to look at the marrow - I will get the results in 2 weeks.
I was diagnosed in 9/01 with Essential Thrombocytosis (mostly because my platelets were sky high and white cell count ok) but they could never control the platelets. Then a PCR showed the presence of BCR ABL and the DX changed to CML - gleevec controlled the platelets. I was PCRU in two months and have been ever since.
