But I have to admit I can NOT shake the feeling the medicine will quit working in only a matter of time.

I think all of us who are an these new medications have similar thoughts.  It is entirely possible for the drug to stop working.  It has for some and others continue to respond to therapy.  Take heart in knowing that more and more medications are coming out designed to go after the mutations that slip by gleevec.

Most importantly.....yes...life is short...probably shorter for us than for others without CML.  You must realize that this knowledge is a gift. You will find your sensitivity to the beauty in this world is greatly enhanced because you are acutely aware of your mortality.  You will appreciate things that others take for granted.  Don't waste time worrying about something you have no control over, other than getting the best medical attention possible.  As corny as it may sound,  live and love day by day.

My 2 cents.
