Hello all, I am a 35-40 yr. old African American, I have been on Gleevec for a little over a year. I also and my wife noticed my skin changing, getting lighter by the month and my cuts and scratches take some time to heal. I call it the Michael Jackson syndrome. (ha,ha) I am on 600 mg and my blood counts have been normal for some time now. Don't know what can be done about it but I am searching... Good luck to all, keep positive.

I am 55, and have similar experience to yours. I have been on Gleevec since early in September when I was diagnosed. I am assuming it is a side effect of the gleevec, since my blood chemistry is back to normal. Somehow the gleevec is influencing the skin...not a great thing, but better than no gleevec I guess, ha. If I find out anything else I will post what I learn. I am in Florida so the cold is not a big issue, but the sun is and I burn easily and shave more carefully, ha.
