The concern is real, because most folks who reach PCRU see their marrow
return to near normal production of blood elements. Your doc in Miami
(where I was just a couple of days ago - nice weather compared to
Portland,
Maine!) may be right that this is just a response to IM, but it's
worthwhile
finding out, and a BMA or BMB should provide at least part of the
answer. A
serum level of IM should also be helpful, I should think: you might be
metabolizing it slowly for some reason, resulting in abnormally high
levels
which could suppress your marrow. A simple fix in that case would be to
reduce your dose.

Good luck,
Richard

Hi Richard,

I wasn't aware that serum level testing of IM was available. I thought
that Novartis was still holding on to that test and not making it
available to local physicians. Is it now available commercially? Or
is it just being used for research at some of the larger CML centers?

Warm Regards,
Kristin
