Oh Annette, thank you so much for telling me this. It is just what I needed to hear.  So, counts can be monitored closely and the patient can be kept on Hydroxurea?  I will be gone for 2 weeks out of the country so that is the only thing that worries me. I think I will take Gleevec while away just to be on the safe side,and then when I come home clean myself out again.  I just won't have the luxury of a lab where I am going. I think the doctor's timing is a bit off, ha!
It is great news that one can remain in chronic without Gleevec for a period of time, I had thought that not possible, so I am taking heart from your email. Thank you. God Bless. Lynne A.
