Hi Doris,
Let me start by saying I know nothing about the procedure you are considering. However, I do remember that there was a list mate a while back who had gastric by-pass before her diagnosis with CML. Since her diagnosis, I remember her saying that she had a really hard time with the Gleevec, presumably because her stomach was so small. One of the things I remember her saying was that she had diarreah leak out of her during the night while she slept. I don't know if this could happen with the procedure you are referring to but if it makes your stomach really small, I guess it could. Remember it's important to take Gleevec with a full stomach so if your stomach is really tiny, that's bound to affect it someway. I don't want to discourage you but I do want you to be informed before you make any decisions. Because you take Gleevec everyday, you do have considerations to take into account that most don't.
