Oh brother, I have really missed out on a lot of things here, I guess. All I knew is that Rob was changing from Yahoo to Google. Nothing else has caught my eye, as I have been only able to quickly scan emails (689 of them) and try to catch up...well, once again, are we at war or what? I don't know what is going on (Don't think I WANT to) but I am going to let the dust settle and continue on as usual. Over the past five years on the CML groups, bickering has occurred frequently. Groups have split and formed new groups. I try to just go with the flow. Sometimes my feathers have been ruffled, but long ago I chose not to enter into any controversy or arguments that would harm my fragile state of health. If you would allow me, I would like to tell about what happened to me recently. I went to Belize to try to regain my health, to strengthen my body and mind. My goal was to stay in the sunshine, walk everyday, exercise, eat well, and rest. I figured no one down there would cause me any stress and I would be so far ahead of the game that by the time I got back to the States I would look/feel better and my doctor would be proud. I would no longer feel as though I am "dying." Well, after about a week something really awful happened to me, unexpected and traumatic. My mother, who I do not see often, has apparently begun some type of psychological sickness and has progressed very quickly from the last time I saw her. Being in Belize, she is not treated for whatever her condition is, not medicated, and is pretty much left on her own to wreak havoc. I was appalled and frightened. My whole being was threatened, traumatized, and by the end of the week, lo and behold my WBC counts were 21,000! What I am trying here to say is that if we allow ourselves to fall into situations that are unhealthy, relationships that are not good for us, then our health is surely going to suffer. When I returned to the US, I was lucky to be viewing PBS and Dr. Christine Northrup was giving a lecture on Mother/Daughter relationships and was so glad that I was able to heal a bit from listening to her wisdom. In any situation that threatens our well-being, we do not have to become "victims" unless we want to be. I did not need to come here to my wonderful support groups and see bickering on top of all of that befell me over the past few weeks. I look forward to the group posts as healing, helping, support. When I see my beloved CML fellows arguing, it makes me feel that the whole world has gone crazy. Please, Let's not bring this down. Let's try and be tolerant of one another, and realize that we who are sick with CML cannot AFFORD any more sickness, on top of what we are already dealing with. >From experience with the support groups, I can tell the newer members that this too shall pass, and things will settle and things will go on. I am still amazed that even after 5 years I can still come here to the groups and find out what I need to find, and see my CML family!!! "So, come on people, smile on your brother, everybody get together try to love one another right now." (Forget who sang that?????) - Lynne A.
