To get you started, there is a 'CML primer' in the Files section of the message board. It has a glossary of CML terms you might find useful. Sometimes we talk about FISH and PCR tests, and you'll see the abbreviation PH+ for philadelphia chromosome, etc. These are explained in the primer and can help you understand better what your doctor is talking about. How did you get diagnosed? Did they do a bone marrow biopsy (BMB) or what is also called a bone marrow aspiration (BMA)? I was diagnosed from a cholesterol checkup back in March of 2000 (just a few months after my 40th birthday). My major symptoms were fatigue, easy bruising and restless legs at night. Before Gleevec was available, I took interferon shots for 14 months. After 90+ days on Gleevec, I had a complete remission. There's a lot to learn about CML, but the since you found this group so quickly, I have a feeling you will be a fast learner!
