hydration by IV. I will start Gleevac on Monday. On Thursday I have Ann, I hope your marrow biopsy is painless, it is really the expertise of
the doctor doing it that determines how painful it is. The first one they gave
me just Tyelenol for pain and it did not help. But, 13 bone marrow biopsies
later, I can tell you that you just have to find your threshold of pain
tolerance and go from there.....see if they will give you morphine or something
to calm you like Ativan first. They give you a local (well, actually
several) and that helps, but I find that if I bring in pictures of my kids, or a
happy scene, bring some earphones with me with nice music, and I breathe
yoga-like during the procedure, I am a lot better off. Just try to focus on
something else, and if you have a good doctor, he/she will talk you through the
procedure, thus making it less scary.
Let us know how you make out. Some people told me it did not hurt at all,
and sometimes I do believe you can have a near-painless bmb in all the right
circumstances. Good luck! Lynne A.
