I have been followed this forum with keen interest since I joined the group in late june. I was diagonises with CML in late April, since then I am on Glivec 400mg a day. When I first started
using Glivec my platelets went down to 24 and my blood level was down to 2.5 I was then admitted and given blood transfusion and platelets transfusion. My blood level rose to 14.7 after 2 weeks of BT but my platelets went up to 43 only. After a two weeks when I was still on sick leave my platelets rose to 190 then starting to drop down soon after I started going to work. Now my platelets read 96 which is beyond the normal minmum of 140. Can anyone there advice me on how to maintain my level of platelets? And what are the side effects of low level of platelets? what can I eat or do to prevent them from going down?
