We were given conflicting advice from my husband's oncologist (Dr. Talpaz at MDACC, who advised against fathering children while on Gleevec) and others in this group (who had babies without a problem).
We then e-mailed Dr. Druker and his response was: "The evidence thus far is that it is 'probably' safe to father a child on Gleevec. I use probably since there have not been more than 20 to 25 Gleevec fathers and thus far there is no evidence of any problems." So with that information, we decided to expand our family. Our daughter was born three months ago yesterday.
