Dear Kelly Ann: Welcome to our group. I am so sorry you were diagnosed with CML. I know how tough it is in the beginning when you are just learning to adjust to living with CML. I hope Novartis accepts you in their Assistance Program.
I have been on Gleevec for 3 1/2 years now and I have had several of the side effects. Some of them come and go. I think you can expect to continue to live your life the way you are living it now. My major side effects with Gleevec have been diarrhea and fatigue. In the beginning I felt like I had the flu all the time and I thought how can I have a normal life when I feel horrible all the time. That passed after a couple weeks fortunately. Other people on Gleevec have not had that problem and most continue to work and do what they were doing before diagnosis.
