Hi Margaret: I started the bms drug at 140 mg daily on june 4 this year. I am 70 years old and have had cml since 1999. The worst side effect I had was water retension. I had to go off the drug and then go back on it again. This went on most of the summer and now the drug is reduced to 100mgs daily. Don't worry, there are people on 40mgs and doing OK. This is a trial and your mother will have to find her own level. Keep in touch.
