Hello - I joined last week hoping to find answers to side effects of Gleevec.
I have put off any research since I was dx 2/2005. I have a dear friend who has
been researching many areas for me. But it's time to take responsibility for myself
I guess. In 2003, I was dx with leiomyosarcoma (agressive uterine CA), had lots of radiation.
Then January of this year, I was to have a wedge/resection of my left lung when my labs came
back right off the map the night before surgery. I had no obvious symptoms but lab results indicated CML by February. I had the lung surgery in March of this year, and was dx with lung CA at that time. I'm not sure, but I think the side effects of the Gleevec have caused me
the most annoyance. Perhaps it's just one more thing this year! I recently was tested
but am not in remission at this time. The dose has been increased to 600 mg and
it's the pits. But I have recently discovered many sources of information relating to those side effects and I am working towards getting them under control.
I feel very lucky when I read emails from people on this site who also have all
of what I'm going through, and then they have children to take care of and explain
to, elderly parents, and/or are unable to work, have no energy, etc.
It's good to have a connection. I will keep in touch monthly at least.
