Hello Megan,
Yes you certainly have answered my questions. My oncologist did tell me I would be on Gleevec indefidently although i spose I was just hoping I wouldnt have to take it forever, the side affects arent quite the highlite of my day.I have heard others say the side affects do subside in due time. though having 2 children 10 and 18months, I dont have the energy to keep up with them.  And yes I did hear about an infection raising your WBC count though for some reason it hadnt dawned on me at that moment. I did have my gall-bladder removed in 96 and a gall stone attack exactly one year later in which was the result of the surgeon leaving the stones behind and my bile duct not being large enough for the stone to pass through. Ever since then my WBC count has been high, though fluctuated up and down. Almost every year I was going to my PCP due to pain in my right side and rather swollen. Which is where I had once again gone in August of 2005 where my PCP sent me to the oncologist a week later and found out I had CML. Much surprise may I add as I only went in for pains on my right side. All this time my PCP though it was scar tissue infection. Do you think if I ask my oncologist how long Ive had this he could either find out or already have the answer? When was your mother in law dx? And has her oncologist suggested a BMT? Again thankyou for answering my quesions.
