I just suffered through a week of sores inside of my mouth, dry, dry lips, that cracked in the corners! My mouth hurt so badly, that I could not eat. Which may, or may not be good.
I used Oragel Maximum Strength, on the sores inside of my mouth, and Blistex, on my lips, with Neosporen, (lip balm), and it has cleared up,..mostly. My lips are still dry, and cracked, but the sores, and the cracked corners of my mouth, are gone. Thanks for the information on the bee product. My daughter had some, and gave me a brand new lip gloss, and it does seem to help more than the Blistex. Also, I started taking Gleevac about a month ago. I had stopped, without knowing the risks, about a year ago. Over the last six months I noticed that my numbers were climbing again, and I got concerned, and the oncologist put me back on the medication last month. I saw him today, and my numbers have dropped almost five points, in one month! I am so happy, and relieved. I just pray that this trend continues, and that I remain under ten. I don't really understand all of the numbers, but I do know what's good, and what's not. I wish I could be more specific, but I am new to this. Also, I have not gained any weight from the Gleevac, or anything else! This is a big thing for me, because the last time I took it, I gained over 40 pounds. I think it was harder on me because I also have fibromyalgia, Sjogren's syndrome, and asthma, which can make you feel like you've been hit by a mack truck, on a daily basis. Lately, however, I've been watching my grandson, and honestly, I feel so much better,...it's a miracle! Children seem to have that effect on most of us. I have been able to clean the house more, and even cook a few meals, which for me, is a very big thing. A year ago, I could hardly get out of bed. I am so thankful for this group, the medications, the doctors, and especially my family. They have been very supportive, and I know it's been difficult for them. I realize the sacrifices that they have had to make because I could not carry my share of the load, but that's what family is for, and I would do it for them any day, anytime, and forever, if necessary. I was just so happy about the numbers, that I had to post this. I pray it continues to work for me, as well as it has. Do you think that Gleevac could dry out your hair too? I don't know much about the drug, and was surprised to find that it was responsible for my sore, cracked mouth. Sjogren's syndrome is also a "drying" condition, so I guess I should try to find a way to get more healthy type of oils into my diet. Any suggestions??? Thanks Rob for this site, and your help. I didn't mean to be flippant in my e-mail response to you the other day. After I posted my pic, I realized how bad I looked, and that my location was there, for all the world to see,...yes, it is vanity, but I cannot control that just yet. I am sure that I will learn to deal more effectively with these things in time, but as of this date, I am still trying to hang onto my "image" of my prior, more attractive self. It helps to make me feel better, even when I know I look terrible. Again, thanks. Katsie. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Help save the life of a child.
