My niece has was dx 9/05.  She is 11 years old.   She is currently taking 600 mg of Gleevec and has reached 0 ph on her FISH at 3 mos.   The dr. wants her to start taking 700 mg of Gleevec.    She just has her first PCR test done last week.

Her oncologist, however, feels that it is unlikely that someone could reach PCRU this quickly.   Does anyone out there have experience with this?  My thought is that since she is taking a very high dose of Gleevec (she only weighs 60 lbs), the drug might have been able to induce a deeper and more rapid molecular response than is seen in the typical CML patient.  She was diagnosed very early, with no enlarged spleen, no blasts in her blood and a WBC of 30,000.

I would appreciate some advice from all of you CML experts!
