Thanks Anjana for your concern. I think I've got the entire group in a
panic because I mentioned trying pot for appetite and getting off the
Gleevec. I'm just in limbo as what to do about anything. I was going to
work with what they call a herbal specialist out of Alabama, he was
going to put together a regiment of herbal supplements for me to take
that he says if taken correctly would allow me to cure myself. I would
have to stop partaking of any and all caffeine, and also watch what I
eat. The main thing that caught my eye was something containing
alkaline which regulates acid production and it is their belief that
overproduction of acid is connected to the causes of cancer. More and
more people in my area are turning to herbal remedies. I have this one
acquaintance(church member) that treats any and all ailments with
herbal supplements, and also his wife and children. He takes this
packet of vitamins daily, treats colds, sinusitis, headaches(migraines)
all with herbal stuff. One of my girlfriends grandmother used to own
the local health food store,(up until she died 3 years ago) and had it
for many, many years. They really rely on this alone. Now her husband
is laid off and they have no insurance so they can't afford to go to
the doctor. She treats arthritis behind her knee cap with a herbal
remedy. She treats her family's colds with these chinese pills. When my
son got out of a 5 month stay in jail, he could not go to the bathroom.
The food they gave them was so bland, it just messed him up and I'm
sure having to go to the bathroom in the presence of others didn't
help. After coming home, he had went 12 days without going to the
bathroom. Needless to say, he was sick and in pain. I went to the
health food store and told the lady who owns it about it and she
recommended this herbal supplement called "Super Cleanse" for your
colon. It is entirely all vegetables and fiber. You are to take 1 at
bedtime, if you do not have a bowel movement the next day, then the
next night you take 2. My son went to the bathroom after taking 1
tablet and I mean he went again and again throughout that next day. I'm
not meaning to sound gross but he was in a rehab the last 28 days of
his jail time, and had eaten cucumbers 1 month prior to taking this
colon cleanser and he passed cucumber seeds he had eaten 1 month prior
to taking this pill. People don't realize that greasy foods cause build
up in your colon. It's much like the grease that splatters behind your
cooktop when say you're frying something. Well if you don't wipe this
off regularly, it will build up, and build up until it is damn near
impossible to scrub it off.....well it sticks to your insides much the
same way. Fruit and vegetables with seeds often stay in there and you
don't even know it. My husband has diverticulitis which is pockets that
build up on your intestines and is probably caused from high cholestrol
diet and things that tend to stick in the intestines. When these
pockets become inflamed, you've got problems. A 32 year old guy who
once was over a factory here(the factory has closed of course) has had
to have so much of his intestines removed because of the diverticulitis
that if he has to have more removed he will be living with a bag. His
main course of diet was MacDonald's at least 5 times a week. I've
wanted to try these colon cleansing pills myself but going to the
bathroom has not been a problem for me since I keep diarrhea but the
lady told me I should clean myself out at some point whenever the
diarrhea slows up because even the diarrhea was not totally cleansing
me out. Not like I would think....Amazing! Anyway, I've been doing a
lot of research about it and was wanting to try it. I thank God for the
Gleevec which controls the CML....but I want to be cured, not just keep
it at bay. I've always believed with all my heart that we have the
power to cure ourselves if we weren't all afraid to try it. I also
believe you have to be strong willed and strong minded.
As for losing my taste, I have not. It's just nothing appeals to me. My
stomach feels so totally empty at times it hurts but I'm not hungry. My
stomach is maybe, but my brain isn't connecting with my stomach
evidently. I force what I do eat to stay alive, not that I want it. I
eat a lot of cereal, oatmeal, rice and mashed pototoes, peanut butter
and chicken noodle soup. Don't ask me why, this is just the things that
I can force down that don't make me feel so sick trying to get it down.
I guess because they are all really light. Most meats are out of the
question but I do eat peanut butter sandwiches to replace the meat I'm
not eating. I also take a prescription multi-vitamin and calcium with
vitamin D.
I hope your husband's appetite continues to get better or his taste
buds whichever. As for spicy foods, as soon as it hit my stomach, I'd
had to make a trip to the bathroom. Mexican food, pizza both that I
love are out of the question for me. Continued success and luck to Roy.
Love, Peace, Hope & Prayers, Pat
