RE: Drinking tea

I can't give the answer to this, but can suggest some places to go for
info. I'd that no one make a decison based on unsubstantiated
anecdotal info. There also are a number of studies, many from Asia,
that have shown that tea has anitoxidant properties and may paly a role
in cancer prevention. That said, here is what I reocmmend:

1)if your MD or other health professional recommends you do or don't
drink tea, ask them for some references on the topic. Ditto for any
one else who offers advise.

2) at many cancer centers there are profesional level dieticians, at
master's level or higher, on staff. Put the question to them, via an MD
referral if necessary.

3) the American Institue for Cancer Research in the USA & the World
Cancer Research Fund in the UK specialize in research & info on diet
& nutrition and cancer. Contact them with the tea question.

4) in the US, you can call the Cancer Info. Service of NCI at
1-800-4-CANCER ( website www.cancer.gov) and ask that they research
the question for you, if they don't have citations on hand.

5) do your own Medline search on the topic. It can be a big help to
use one of the above services, as if you search & find many many
articles, it can be hard to synthesize the array of findings from
different studies.

And let the list know what you find out.
