Hey Sheila, Your story and mine are very similar. I am a 24 yr old only child (thus no related match). You were diagnosed after me, 4 months to the day to be exact. And it took me 14 months to get some really good news. I just heard from my doctor last Tuesday that I am doing 'excellent' on the 800mg. This was after I heard in February (from a November test) that I had not been progressing and (same as you) they began talking about the possibility of a BMT. However, the 800mg has completely turned me around! I've been taking it since January. It's pretty amazing what a few hundred milligrams can do. Hang in there, you're doing great. My doctor told me Gleevec can take 18 months to kick in. In a few months, you will be that much further along (and feeling much better, no doubt)! Take care and best wishes, Chrissy
