My grandmother has to take Gleevec for the rest of her life and right now she has received her first month of medicine free through Novartis.  We are hoping she will be approved to get it free for a year. We are trying to decide how she will be able to afford it after that. Even if she gets on Medicare Part D, her out of pocket will be at least $3,000. We have gotten up with the patient advocate group and they sent an application in to see if she qualifies for assistance. How do you afford this expensive medicine? If anyone can advise us on this, please do.

Thanks,

 Skipper
