Actually I believe we are only talking about semantics here. I am glad you pointed out the interesting T-cell article, which also uses the word "suppress". So let's just say we agree that folks on Gleevec are not in danger of disease and infection that would prevent us from living an otherwise normal life.
I do not see anything in your referenced articles other than Gleevec can Suppress the immune system (WBC, T-Lymphocytes, whatever). But years of using Gleevec has demonstrated that our bodies can still respond sufficiently in times of attack from viruses and bacteria to ensure we can fight off those attacks, and therefore our immune system is not Compromised. My only point is that if our immune system was truly compromised, we would succumb to any little infection or virus. I have been on Gleevec for 14 months, and have not even had a cold. As you pointed out, your husband Roy is less sick since he has been on Gleevec. Again, I think the important point is not in the semantics, but in the fact that we can live our lives in a rather normal way, and not live in fear that any little germ will get us. --Trey --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ [CMLHope] A support group of http://cmlhope.com ------------------------------------------------- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CMLHope" group.
