Hi Dave, There has been a study done where patients on Gleevec after transplant went off the Gleevec and 40% of them did not relapse but 60% did relapse. The patients had been PCR negative on Gleevec for some time and had 100% donor cells before they went off Gleevec.
With transplant patients who then go on to Gleevec, things are a bit different. If Gleevec has put you back in PCR negative and you have 100% donor cells, it can be possible for you to go off Gleevec and not relapse, one of my friends has done this and she is fine. Please do remember, dear Group, that this is only applicable for patients who have had a transplant and who have 100% donor cells. I can dig up the study and post it if you need. The study was done by Dr. Hochhaus of Germany.
